01Network and SIM
It works on any UK network and supports 4G only, so it won't connect to 5G. If you want 5G, look at the Galaxy A13 5G or A15 5G. It takes two nano-SIMs, with a separate microSD slot. GSMArena lists NFC as market-dependent, so contactless payments depend on the model supplied; message us to confirm before you order.
02Display
GSMArena lists a 6.5-inch PLS LCD at 720 x 1600 and a 60Hz refresh rate. It's an HD+ panel rather than Full HD, so text is a little softer than on newer budget phones, but it's big and bright enough for video, maps and calls.
03Performance and storage
The A12 uses the MediaTek Helio P35, an entry-level chip suited to calls, messaging, WhatsApp, browsing, maps and streaming. It won't suit demanding games. GSMArena lists a wide spread of RAM options (2GB to 6GB) across the A12 family, so RAM depends on the model supplied. We stock 32GB and 64GB versions, and the dedicated microSD slot lets you add more.
04Cameras
Samsung's A12 has a 48MP main camera, a 5MP ultra wide and a 2MP macro, with an 8MP selfie camera. In daylight the main camera is perfectly usable for everyday photos; low light is where a phone at this level struggles.
05Battery and charging
The A12 has a 5,000mAh battery with 15W wired charging over USB-C, which is a long-lasting setup for a phone with an HD+ screen and a modest chip. Because the phone is used, each unit has a minimum battery health at dispatch: 85%+ on every grade.
06Software updates
Honest answer: the A12 is an older phone. It launched on Android 10 and Samsung took it to Android 12. Reports and endoflife.date show Samsung no longer lists it for regular security updates, so don't expect new patches. It's fine as a simple phone for calls, WhatsApp and light use, but if you bank heavily on your phone or want long-term updates, choose a newer model such as the Galaxy A15 5G or A16 5G.

Only if you want a very low-cost, big-battery phone for basics. It's tested, cleaned and backed by a 12-month warranty. The trade-offs are 4G only, an HD+ 60Hz screen and no ongoing Samsung security updates.

Yes, it's unlocked and works on EE, O2, Vodafone, Three, giffgaff and other UK networks on 4G.
Does the Galaxy A12 have 5G?

Does the Galaxy A12 still get updates?
No regular ones. It shipped with Android 10, was upgraded to Android 12, and is no longer on Samsung's regular security update list.
