01Which PS5 is this?
Sony has sold several PS5 versions: the original larger console and the slimmer model from 2023, each as a Disc Edition with an Ultra HD Blu-ray drive or a Digital Edition with no drive. They play the same PS5 games, but a Digital Edition can't use game discs. The storage is 825GB on the original model and 1TB on the slim model. If you need a disc drive, or a particular model, message us before ordering and we'll confirm which one you'll receive.
02What's in the box
The PS5 console and one DualSense wireless controller. Please message us before ordering to confirm whether the power cord, HDMI cable, USB cable for charging the controller, stand or feet, and original box are included. No games, PlayStation Plus membership or codes are included.
03Account and online play
You set the console up with your own PlayStation Network account. If you have any questions about account set-up, message us before ordering. Games bought digitally by the previous owner are not included. Online multiplayer in most paid games needs a PlayStation Plus membership, sold separately by Sony.
04Performance, 4K and 120Hz
Sony specifies an ultra-high-speed SSD for near-instant loading, 4K TV gaming, ray tracing, and high frame rate play at up to 120fps with 120Hz output on supported games and displays. For 120Hz you need a TV or monitor that accepts it over HDMI; on a 60Hz TV the console runs at 60Hz.
05The DualSense controller
The included DualSense has haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. It has a built-in rechargeable battery that charges over USB-C. As it's pre-owned, battery life may be shorter than a new pad's, and we don't yet grade controller batteries.
Condition
What "Pristine Condition" means
Pristine Condition is our label for pre-owned stock. This PS5 has been used before; it is not new or sealed. We test and clean every console before it's listed. Pristine Condition means pre-owned and fully working, with little or no visible wear. We promise no cosmetic finish beyond that definition, and the photo is a Sony product image, not your console.

Our view
Is it worth buying a pre-owned PS5 in 2026?
Yes, if you want Sony's exclusives and your PS4 library on newer hardware for less than new. The internals are the same as a new console of the same model. The trade-offs: it's been used, its condition is limited to our Pristine definition, and the warranty is ours rather than Sony's. Confirm the edition first if you buy games on disc.

Is this PS5 new?
No. It's a pre-owned console in Pristine Condition: used, then tested and cleaned. It isn't sealed and we don't sell it as new.
Does it have a disc drive?
Please message us before ordering to confirm whether you'll receive the Disc Edition or the Digital Edition. The Digital Edition can't play game discs, so please message us before ordering if you need a drive.
What's in the box?
Your Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) Console with DualSense Controller – Pristine Condition (Pre-Owned), a charging cable and a SIM ejector pin, all in protective packaging. The cable and SIM pin are included free.
Will my PS4 games work?
Sony says the vast majority of PS4 games play on PS5. PS4 discs need a Disc Edition console.
Who provides the warranty?
We do: 12 months from The Tech Gadgets, and you contact us directly. Faulty items are also covered by the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
When will it arrive?
Orders placed by 3pm UK time Monday to Friday are dispatched the same day from Manchester. After 3pm Monday to Thursday they go out the next working day, and after 3pm on Friday or at the weekend on Monday (UK bank holidays excluded). Standard delivery takes 1–3 working days and is free on orders of £50 or more, otherwise £4.99; Special Delivery (next working day) is £9.99.
