It's unlocked for EE, O2, Vodafone, Three, giffgaff and other UK networks, but it's 4G LTE only and can't use 5G. Samsung UK lists two nano-SIMs with a hybrid slot (SIM or microSD) and NFC for contactless payments. No eSIM is listed.

Samsung specifies a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panel at 1080 x 2340, and GSMArena lists 90Hz, matching the A16 5G. Samsung rates the body IP54 for splashes.
03Performance and storage
Samsung lists an octa-core chip at 2.2GHz and 2GHz; GSMArena identifies it as the MediaTek Helio G99. UK 128GB models have 4GB of RAM: fine for calls, WhatsApp and streaming, not heavy games. Samsung UK lists only the 128GB version, so the RAM of 256GB units depends on the model supplied; message us to confirm before you order. microSD up to 1.5TB is supported.
04Cameras
Samsung lists a 50MP f/1.8 main camera, a 5MP ultra wide, a 2MP macro and a 13MP front camera, with Full HD 30fps video. Samsung lists OIS on the Galaxy A17 5G but not the A16, so low-light shots need a steady hand.
05Battery and charging
Samsung rates the 5,000mAh battery at up to 18 hours of video when new, with 25W Super Fast Charging on a compatible charger. Used batteries age, so we dispatch every grade with at least 85% battery health.
06Software updates
Samsung promises up to six Android upgrades and lists security updates until 31 August 2031, so a unit bought today has almost five years of patches left.

Is a refurbished Samsung Galaxy A16 4G worth buying in 2026?
Yes, if you want the cheapest Samsung with a big AMOLED screen and long support, and you don't need 5G. Samsung lists updates to August 2031, a 5,000mAh battery and a 50MP camera. The trade-offs are 4G only, 4GB of RAM and no OIS.

Does the Galaxy A16 4G work on 5G?

Samsung UK lists security updates until 31 August 2031. It also promises up to six Android upgrades; after support ends the phone works but gets no new patches.
