01Connectivity and compatibility
With an iPhone, open the case nearby and they pair in one tap, then switch between Apple devices on your account. "Hey Siri" and one-tap setup need an Apple device. On Android and Windows they work as simple Bluetooth earbuds; double-tap controls still work, but you can't change settings or update firmware without an Apple device.
02Sound and fit
These use the classic AirPods shape with a longer stem and no ear tips, so they sit loosely in the ear and let outside sound in. There's no noise cancellation or Spatial Audio. They suit calls, podcasts and everyday music rather than noisy travel.
03Battery and charging
Apple rated AirPods 2 at up to 5 hours of listening per charge and more than 24 hours with the case, and says 15 minutes in the case gives up to 3 hours. On a pair this age, expect shorter real-world battery life than those new-unit ratings. Our 12-month warranty covers faults. The case charges with a Lightning cable.

Is it worth buying pre-owned in 2026?
For a spare pair, a first pair for a child, or anyone who just wants basic Apple earbuds for calls, yes. For daily commuting, a newer model gives you USB-C, sweat resistance and a better battery. AirPods 2 has no IP rating, so it isn't the right choice for the gym.
Who it's for
