01Network and SIM
It's unlocked for every UK network. It uses Apple's own C1 modem, and Apple specifies 5G, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3, with a nano-SIM plus eSIM, or two eSIMs.
02Display
Apple specifies a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED at 2532 x 1170 pixels, 800 nits typical and 1,200 nits peak for HDR. That's dimmer outdoors than the iPhone 16, rated at up to 2,000 nits, and Apple doesn't list ProMotion.
03Performance and storage
Apple lists the A18 with a 6-core CPU and a 4-core GPU, one GPU core fewer than the iPhone 16; Apple Intelligence works the same. Storage is 128GB, 256GB or 512GB and can't be expanded. A cheap iPhone 16e 128GB suits light users; choose 256GB for lots of video.
04Cameras
Apple specifies a single 48MP Fusion camera (ƒ/1.6) with optical image stabilisation and a 12MP 2x Telephoto option. There's no Ultra Wide camera. The front camera is 12MP (ƒ/1.9).
05Battery and charging
Apple rates it at up to 26 hours of video playback when new, four more than the iPhone 16. Every grade leaves us with at least 85% battery health. It supports Qi wireless charging, which GSMArena lists at 7.5W, but not MagSafe.
06Software updates
It runs iOS 27, released on 14 September 2026. Apple's UK PSTI statement commits to at least five years of security updates from first supply; this model first went on sale on 28 February 2025, so expect security updates until at least February 2030.

Is a refurbished iPhone 16e worth buying in 2026?
Yes, if you want Apple Intelligence and long battery life and can live with one rear camera. It has the A18, security updates to at least February 2030 and a 26-hour battery rating. The trade-offs are no Ultra Wide, no MagSafe, no Camera Control and a dimmer screen.
Who it's for
Choose it as a first iPhone, an upgrade from an older model, or for calls, messages and everyday photos. A second hand iPhone 16e from a private sale won't be graded or under warranty. For an Ultra Wide and MagSafe, the iPhone 16 adds both.
