01Network and SIM
It works on any UK network, and Samsung lists 5G (Sub6), so you get 5G wherever your plan offers it. The second nano-SIM position is shared with microSD. NFC is built in for Google Wallet or Samsung Wallet. Samsung doesn't list eSIM.
02Display
Samsung specifies a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED at 1080 x 2340 with a 90Hz refresh rate, so scrolling looks smoother than on a 60Hz budget screen.
03Performance and storage
Samsung lists an octa-core chip at 2.4GHz and 2GHz; GSMArena identifies the UK model (SM-A166B) as using the Exynos 1330, a step up from the A16 4G's Helio G99. UK 128GB phones have 4GB of RAM. 256GB units aren't on Samsung UK's page, so RAM depends on the model supplied; message us to confirm before you order. microSD up to 1.5TB is supported.
04Cameras
Samsung lists a 50MP f/1.8 main camera, a 5MP ultra wide, a 2MP macro and a 13MP front camera. It's a daylight-first setup: Samsung lists OIS on the A17 5G, not the A16. For family photos in good light, the 50MP sensor does the work.
05Battery and charging
Samsung fits a 5,000mAh battery with 25W Super Fast Charging on a compatible charger. Because the phone is used, each grade has a minimum battery health at dispatch: 85%+ on every grade (Like New, Excellent and Very Good).
06Software updates
Samsung promises up to six Android upgrades and lists security updates until 31 October 2030 on its UK page. That's about four years of patches from today, and the IP54 body handles splashes.

This Galaxy A16 5G is second hand. We test it, clean it, factory reset it and remove the previous Google and Samsung accounts, then grade the outside. Like New shows the least wear, Very Good the most. Like New means no visible marks on the screen or body; Excellent means light signs of use, hard to spot at arm's length; Very Good means visible marks on the body, with the screen in good shape. Is a refurbished Samsung Galaxy A16 5G worth buying in 2026?
Yes, for 5G, NFC and a large AMOLED screen for the least money. Samsung backs it with security updates to October 2030, a 5,000mAh battery and a 90Hz display. The compromises are 4GB of RAM and no OIS; the A17 5G adds OIS for £40 more.
Who it's for

Yes, it's unlocked and works on EE, O2, Vodafone, Three, giffgaff and other UK networks, including their 5G where available.
Samsung A16 vs A17: what's the difference?
The A17 5G adds OIS on the main camera, a slimmer body and ten more months of security updates. The A16 5G is £40 cheaper here.
What battery health will I get?
