Best Samsung Galaxy A-Series Phone Under £150 (UK): 2026 Picks

A refurbished Galaxy A16 4G at £100.99 is the best Galaxy A phone under £150 for most people. Here is the best pick for updates, camera, screen, sealed new stock and storage, with every condition labelled and months of support counted.

With £150 to spend, the best Galaxy A-series phone for most people is a refurbished Galaxy A16 4G in Very Good condition, from £100.99 for 128GB (checked 5 October 2026). It pairs a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen and NFC with 48.9 months of Samsung security updates on our cautious reading, and nothing cheaper with a published grade comes close on updates. It suits a child's first phone, a quick replacement for a broken handset or a dependable spare.

The limitation you can't avoid at this budget: the models with the strongest cameras and IP67 ratings (Galaxy A33 5G, A34 5G, A35 5G, A53 5G and A54 5G) are older designs with between 5.8 and 17.8 months of security updates left.

Every price here is the lowest listed price for that exact model, condition and storage, checked on 5 October 2026; confirm on the product page before ordering. Months of support count from the same date.

Quick decision: the best Galaxy A phone under £150 for each priority

  • Best overall value: Galaxy A16 4G, Refurbished, Very Good, 128GB, from £100.99.
  • Lowest price: Galaxy A53 5G, Refurbished, Very Good, 128GB, from £93.99 (updates end around March 2027).
  • Best camera: Galaxy A54 5G, Refurbished, Very Good, 128GB, from £124.99.
  • Best screen on paper: Galaxy A35 5G, Refurbished, Very Good, 128GB, from £136.99.
  • Best sealed new phone: Galaxy A07 5G, Brand New (sealed), 64GB, from £133.99.
  • Longest support on paper: Galaxy A07s (4G), Open Box (Activated), international version, 64GB, from £137.99.
  • Most storage: Galaxy A16 4G, Refurbished, Very Good, 256GB, from £118.99.
  • Best 5G all-rounder: Galaxy A16 5G, Refurbished, Very Good, 128GB, from £128.99.

Consider an alternative when you pay by tapping your phone (Samsung doesn't list NFC for the Galaxy A06, A06 5G, A07, A07 5G or A07s), when you'll keep the phone beyond spring 2028 (the A33 5G, A34 5G, A35 5G, A53 5G and A54 5G lose updates by then), or when you'd rather have an older flagship. Our comparison of new budget A-series phones against refurbished Galaxy S models covers that last route.

Check before buying the condition named on the listing (not the web address), whether you've selected the undefined Fair grade, and Wi-Fi Calling or 4G Calling on your network, as every Galaxy A phone sold here is international stock.

The first table shows what is on sale, with the condition exactly as the listing names it. The A07s page address contains “brand-new”, for example, but the listing sells it as Open Box (Activated), international version.

How long will each phone under £150 get security updates?

From 5 October 2026, the Galaxy A07 family has the longest runway: 58.8 months for the sealed A07 (4G), 63.9 for the A07 5G and 70.9 for the Open Box A07s (4G), nearly six years. The refurbished A16 4G and A16 5G have 48.9 months. The A34 5G, A35 5G and A54 5G have 17.8 months, and the A33 5G and A53 5G just 5.8.

The A06 (4G) sits at 22.9 months and the A06 5G at 28.8. A phone keeps working after its security updates stop, but newly found weaknesses stay unpatched, which matters more if you bank, shop or keep family photos on it. Three dates need a caveat because Samsung's own figures don't line up, so the maths uses the earlier one each time:

  • Galaxy A16 4G: Samsung UK's page says 31 August 2031, but Samsung's six-year promise from the late-2024 launch points to late 2030. We use 31 October 2030, the date Samsung UK gives the A16 5G launched alongside it.
  • Galaxy A06 5G: Samsung Singapore's page says 31 March 2030, while four years from the February 2025 launch is about February 2029.
  • Galaxy A35 5G: Samsung UK's page says 31 March 2028, yet the five-year launch promise points to about March 2029. Treat anything past March 2028 as a bonus.

Two dates are calculated because Samsung doesn't publish one. The A53 5G's five-year promise from its 2022 launch points to around March 2027, matching its listing, and the A06's four-year promise from August 2024 works out at about August 2028.

The picks in detail

Best overall value: Galaxy A16 4G, Refurbished (Very Good, 128GB), from £100.99

The A16 4G gets the most right for the least money. Its 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen runs at full HD+ and 90Hz, so text is sharper (full HD+ against HD+) than on the LCD panels of the brand-new A06 and A07 models, 4G and 5G alike. You get a 50MP main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide for fitting a whole room or group into the frame, a 2MP macro and a 13MP selfie camera. Samsung lists NFC, so tap-to-pay works.

Samsung promised six Android upgrades and six years of security updates, which leaves 48.9 months even on the cautious reading. The trade-offs: it's 4G only, Samsung doesn't list optical image stabilisation (OIS) for the main camera, and there's no headphone socket. Very Good means visible marks on the body with the screen in good shape. Excellent costs £9.01 more (£110.00) and Like New £20.00 more (£120.99), but grades describe looks only.

Who should not buy it: anyone who needs 5G or a wired headphone socket. The Galaxy A16 5G adds 5G; the brand-new Galaxy A07 (4G) has a headphone socket.

Samsung Galaxy A16 4G, Refurbished

From £100.99 for 128GB in Very Good condition (price checked 5 October 2026). Grades: Like New, Excellent, Very Good. A Fair option is also listed but is not defined on the grading page.

  • At least 85% battery health at dispatch on Like New, Excellent and Very Good
  • 12-month warranty from The Tech Gadgets (excludes accidental and liquid damage)
  • Same-day dispatch from Manchester on weekday orders placed by 3pm

Lowest price: Galaxy A53 5G, Refurbished (Very Good, 128GB), from £93.99

The A53 5G in Very Good is the cheapest Galaxy A-series phone listed with a defined grade; the A16 4G Fair matches its £93.99 but isn't defined. It is far more phone than the price suggests: a 6.5-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen, a 64MP main camera with OIS backed by 12MP ultra-wide, depth and macro cameras, a 32MP selfie camera, 4K video, 5G, NFC and an IP67 design rating.

The catch is time. Updates end around March 2027, 5.8 months away. That makes the refurbished Galaxy A53 5G listing right for a stop-gap after a breakage, a travel spare or a phone you'll replace next year, and wrong for anything meant to last. Choose the A16 4G instead when it must last: the extra £7.00 buys 43.1 more months of updates (48.9 against 5.8).

Best camera: Galaxy A54 5G, Refurbished (Very Good, 128GB), from £124.99

On published specifications, the A54 shares the strongest camera set-up under £150 with the A53 5G: a main camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide, a 32MP selfie camera and 4K video. The A53's main sensor is 64MP to the A54's 50MP, but the A54 costs £31.00 more for a reason that matters more than megapixels: 12.0 more months of security updates, to 31 March 2028 (17.8 months away). It also has a 6.4-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen, an IP67 design rating, NFC and eSIM support on Samsung UK's specification.

Samsung publishes no brightness figure for the A54's screen, so it's the camera pick rather than the screen pick. Choose it when photos matter and you'll upgrade within about a year and a half.

Samsung Galaxy A54 5G, Refurbished

From £124.99 for 128GB in Very Good condition (price checked 5 October 2026). Grades: Like New, Excellent, Very Good.

  • At least 85% battery health at dispatch on every listed grade
  • 12-month warranty from The Tech Gadgets (excludes accidental and liquid damage)
  • Same-day dispatch from Manchester on weekday orders placed by 3pm

Best screen on paper: Galaxy A35 5G, Refurbished (Very Good, 128GB), from £136.99

The A35 5G shares the highest published brightness figure under £150, Samsung's official 1,000-nit high-brightness rating, with the A34 5G, on a 6.6-inch 120Hz AMOLED panel. The A16 5G's screen is slightly larger at 6.7 inches, but runs at 90Hz with an official 800-nit figure. The A35 adds a 50MP OIS main camera, eSIM and IP67. Its 8MP ultra-wide and 13MP selfie camera are a step below the A54, and Samsung UK's date of 31 March 2028 leaves 17.8 months, though the five-year launch promise points to about March 2029.

The A34 5G has the same size, refresh rate and official brightness figure for £5.00 less, but a 48MP main camera and no eSIM. Choose the refurbished Galaxy A35 5G listing when the screen is what you'll notice every day.

Best sealed new phone: Galaxy A07 5G, Brand New (64GB), from £133.99

For a phone nobody has used, in its sealed retail box, the A07 5G is the strongest choice under £150. It has a 6.7-inch HD+ LCD at 120Hz with an 800-nit peak, a 6,000mAh battery (the largest here), IP54, a 3.5mm headphone socket and a microSD slot shared with the second SIM. Samsung promises six Android upgrades and security updates until 31 January 2032, 63.9 months away.

It is brand new and sealed, sold unlocked for UK networks by The Tech Gadgets, but Samsung doesn't list it on its UK website, so don't expect Samsung UK warranty service. The product page and returns policy list a 12-month warranty from The Tech Gadgets. If you rely on Wi-Fi Calling or 4G Calling on a particular network, ask the team first.

You give up AMOLED, an ultra-wide camera (it has a 50MP main and 2MP depth sensor), NFC and storage choice: 64GB is the only size listed. The 4G A07 costs £5.00 less at £128.99, with updates to 31 August 2031, a 90Hz screen, 5,000mAh and a 128GB option at £141.99.

Samsung Galaxy A07 5G, Brand New (sealed)

From £133.99 for 64GB (price checked 5 October 2026). Sealed new and sold unlocked for UK networks; Samsung doesn't list this model on its UK website.

  • The product page and returns policy list a 12-month warranty from The Tech Gadgets
  • Samsung security updates valid until 31 January 2032
  • Same-day dispatch from Manchester on weekday orders placed by 3pm

Longest support on paper: Galaxy A07s, Open Box (Activated), international version (64GB), from £137.99

Samsung's Levant specification gives the A07s security updates until 31 August 2032, 70.9 months away and 7.0 months beyond the A07 5G, for £4.00 more. It's a 4G A07 with a Helio G99+ chip, a 90Hz HD+ LCD, 5,000mAh, IP54, a headphone socket and a dedicated microSD slot, so a card doesn't cost you a SIM.

The Galaxy A07s Open Box listing describes an international version that has been unboxed and activated once but is otherwise unused. Samsung UK may not provide warranty service for it, the box may lack a UK plug, and 4G Calling on international software can vary by network. Choose it over the A07 5G only if the 2032 date outweighs sealed condition, 5G and 120Hz.

Most storage for the money: Galaxy A16 4G 256GB, Refurbished (Very Good), from £118.99

Doubling the A16 4G's storage costs £18.00 (£118.99 minus £100.99) and keeps its 48.9-month runway. The A53 5G 256GB is £7.00 cheaper at £111.99, but its updates end around March 2027. Every phone here also takes a memory card, but apps generally stay on internal storage, and on the A06 5G, A07 5G, A16 4G, A16 5G and refurbished A3x and A5x models the card replaces the second SIM.

Best 5G all-rounder: Galaxy A16 5G, Refurbished (Very Good, 128GB), from £128.99

The A16 5G is the A16 4G plus 5G, a higher peak clock speed (2.4GHz against 2.2GHz on Samsung UK's specifications) and an official 800-nit brightness figure. Cameras, NFC and IP54 are the same, and updates run to 31 October 2030.

Its real rival is the A07 5G at £5.00 more: choose the A16 5G for AMOLED, the ultra-wide and NFC, or the A07 5G for a sealed box, a bigger battery and updates to 2032. A Fair A16 5G is listed at £119.99. A Fair option is listed; the grading page doesn't define it, so ask the team about its condition before ordering.

Is 5G worth paying for under £150?

In the A06 and A07 pairs, yes: the 5G model costs £5.00 more and brings a faster screen and longer updates. Between the A16 4G and A16 5G it costs £28.00 for the same screen and cameras, which only makes sense if you get strong 5G coverage where you use the phone most.

  • A06 to A06 5G: £120.99 minus £115.99 is £5.00 for 90Hz instead of 60Hz, IP54, four Android upgrades instead of two and 5.9 more months of updates.
  • A07 to A07 5G: £133.99 minus £128.99 is £5.00 for 120Hz, 6,000mAh and 5.1 more months of updates, but you lose the 128GB option and the dedicated card slot.
  • A16 4G to A16 5G: £128.99 minus £100.99 is £28.00 for 5G, a higher clock speed and an official brightness figure.

5G speeds depend on your network, plan and location; 4G handles messaging, maps, streaming and video calls comfortably.

Storage, colour and grade are chosen on the product page. Prices were checked on 5 October 2026 and can change.

Phones we'd avoid at this budget, and why

Galaxy A33 5G, Refurbished (Very Good), £123.99. It costs £30.00 more than the A53 5G in the same grade, with a 90Hz screen instead of 120Hz, a 48MP main camera instead of 64MP and a 13MP selfie camera instead of 32MP. Both lose updates in spring 2027. For £1.00 more, the A54 5G adds a 12MP ultra-wide, a 32MP selfie camera and 12.0 more months of updates.

Galaxy A34 5G, Refurbished (Very Good), £131.99. The A54 is £7.00 cheaper, has the 12MP ultra-wide and 32MP selfie camera the A34 lacks, and shares its 31 March 2028 end date. The A34's case is its 6.6-inch panel with an official 1,000-nit figure, but the A35 5G matches that screen for £5.00 more and adds eSIM and a 50MP main camera.

Galaxy A06 (4G), Brand New, £115.99. The cheapest sealed phone here, with a 60Hz screen, two Android upgrades and updates to about August 2028. Another £13.00 buys the A07, with 90Hz, a newer Helio G99 chip and updates to 31 August 2031.

Galaxy A35 5G 256GB, Refurbished (Very Good), £152.99. The stretch option, £2.99 over the cap. Its cautious 17.8 months of updates are hard to justify when the 256GB A16 4G costs £34.00 less and has 31.1 more months of support.

Any Fair grade, unless you've asked first. The A16 4G Fair (£93.99) and A16 5G Fair (£119.99) look tempting, but the 85% battery minimum covers only Like New, Excellent and Very Good. A Fair option is listed; the grading page doesn't define it, so ask the team about its condition before ordering.

Brand New, Open Box or refurbished: which condition makes sense under £150?

Choose Brand New (sealed) when nobody else should have used the phone, refurbished Very Good when you want the best hardware per pound, and Open Box (Activated) only when its particular model is the one you want. Our explainer on how refurbished, used, renewed and Open Box labels differ is a useful primer. Whatever the condition, every Galaxy A phone here is international stock: box printing and the model code may differ from UK units, and Samsung UK may not carry out manufacturer warranty repairs on non-UK units, so The Tech Gadgets' own 12-month warranty is the cover. If you rely on Wi-Fi Calling or 4G Calling (VoLTE) on a particular network, ask the team before ordering.

Brand New (sealed): Galaxy A06 (4G), A06 5G, A07 (4G) and A07 5G. These are brand new and sealed, sold unlocked for UK networks by The Tech Gadgets, but they aren't Samsung UK-range models; the FAQ below explains what that means for warranty and calling features.

Open Box (Activated), international version: Galaxy A07s (4G). Unboxed and activated once, otherwise unused, but not sealed new. Expect the retailer's warranty rather than Samsung UK's, and possible differences in box printing and contents.

Refurbished (graded): Galaxy A16 4G, A16 5G, A33 5G, A34 5G, A35 5G, A53 5G and A54 5G. Pre-owned phones, tested, cleaned, factory reset and signed out of the previous owner's accounts. The Tech Gadgets' grading page defines Like New (no visible marks), Excellent (light signs of use, hard to spot at arm's length) and Very Good (visible marks on the body, screen in good shape), each with at least 85% battery health at dispatch. The box holds the phone, a charging cable, a SIM ejector pin and protective packaging, with no plug.

On a tight budget, Very Good is usually the right grade: on the A53 5G, Excellent costs £5.00 more and Like New £11.00 more, and both buy appearance rather than function.

What to check in the first few days

  • Battery health on refurbished phones, in the phone's battery settings. The warranty policy lists battery defects and reduced capacity as exclusions, so the 85% minimum at dispatch is the figure to check. A faulty battery in the first 30 days is still covered by your Consumer Rights Act right to reject.
  • Calls, texts and data on your own SIM, especially on the Galaxy A06 (4G), A06 5G, A07 (4G), A07 5G and A07s (4G).
  • Water resistance. IP ratings are Samsung's design figures. Don't assume a refurbished or Open Box phone keeps factory water resistance, as seals age and can be disturbed by repair, and liquid damage isn't covered by the warranty.

Buying any of these from The Tech Gadgets

Every phone in this guide is SIM-free, unlocked and over £50, so standard delivery (1–3 working days) is free on every pick. Orders placed by 3pm Monday to Friday are dispatched the same day from Manchester; that's dispatch, not delivery, and the delivery and dispatch details cover weekends and the £9.99 Special Delivery option.

Refurbished picks carry a 12-month warranty from The Tech Gadgets, starting on delivery and covering faults that develop in normal use, not accidental or liquid damage. For the Brand New and Open Box picks, the product pages and returns and warranty terms list the same 12-month warranty from The Tech Gadgets. Change-of-mind returns are accepted within 30 days if the phone is unused and complete (you pay return postage), alongside your 14-day right to cancel.

To compare everything at once, browse the Samsung Galaxy phones in stock; that collection mixes Brand New, Open Box and refurbished listings, so read each product page's condition.

Buyer FAQ: Galaxy A-series phones under £150

What is the cheapest Samsung Galaxy A-series phone right now?

On 5 October 2026 the lowest listed price was £93.99, shared by the Galaxy A53 5G in Very Good (128GB) and the Galaxy A16 4G in Fair (128GB). Only the A53's grade is defined on the grading page. The cheapest sealed brand-new phone is the Galaxy A06 64GB at £115.99, and the cheapest sealed 5G phone is the Galaxy A06 5G at £120.99. Cheapest isn't best value, though: the A53's updates end around March 2027.

Do the brand-new A06 and A07 phones support contactless payments?

Don't count on it. Samsung's specifications for the Galaxy A06, A06 5G, A07, A07 5G and A07s don't list NFC, and third-party spec databases record no NFC for them. Tap-to-pay with Google Wallet needs NFC. If contactless matters, choose the refurbished Galaxy A16 4G or A16 5G, which Samsung UK lists with NFC, or a refurbished A33 5G, A34 5G, A35 5G, A53 5G or A54 5G.

Which phones under £150 have a headphone socket?

The Galaxy A06 (4G), A06 5G, A07 (4G), A07 5G and A07s (4G) have a 3.5mm socket, according to Samsung's specifications. The A16 4G, A16 5G and the refurbished A33 5G, A34 5G, A35 5G, A53 5G and A54 5G send audio through USB-C, so wired earphones need an adaptor or a USB-C pair. For a child with cheap wired earphones, that's a practical reason to favour the A07 or A07 5G.

Are the Brand New Galaxy A06 and A07 UK models?

No. They're sealed new international stock, sold unlocked for UK networks by The Tech Gadgets, and Samsung doesn't list the A06, A06 5G, A07 or A07 5G on its UK website or in its current UK Galaxy A range. In practice, rely on the retailer's 12-month warranty rather than Samsung UK service, and check Wi-Fi Calling or 4G Calling with the team if your network setup depends on them.

What's the best Galaxy A phone under £150 for a child's first phone?

The brand-new Galaxy A07 at £128.99 is sealed, has a headphone socket and a dedicated memory card slot, and gets updates until 31 August 2031 (58.8 months). The refurbished Galaxy A16 4G at £100.99 has a sharper AMOLED screen, an ultra-wide camera and NFC, with 48.9 months of updates on our cautious reading. Avoid the A33 5G and A53 5G for this job: their updates end in spring 2027, long before a first phone is usually replaced.

Is the refurbished A54 5G better than the brand-new A07 5G?

For photos, yes on paper: OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide, a 32MP selfie camera and 4K video, against a 50MP-plus-depth camera. The A54 also has a full HD+ AMOLED panel where the A07 5G has an HD+ LCD. The A07 5G wins on battery (6,000mAh against 5,000mAh), a headphone socket, sealed condition and updates: 63.9 months against 17.8. At £124.99 and £133.99, buy the A54 for a phone you'll replace within a year and a half, and the A07 5G for one you'll keep for five years.

Final verdict: the best Samsung Galaxy A-series phone under £150

For most buyers, the refurbished Galaxy A16 4G in Very Good condition at £100.99 is the best Galaxy A phone under £150: the cheapest phone here with a published grade that combines an AMOLED screen, NFC and 48.9 months (4.1 years) of security updates. The 256GB version at £118.99 is the sensible upgrade if storage worries you.
