Features
Every detail, verified.
01Network and SIM
This is the Wi-Fi + Cellular model, so it can use mobile data on 4G LTE networks with a nano-SIM. It is unlocked, so it works with any UK network. It also connects over Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), dual band. A data plan is not included.
02Display
Apple lists a 9.7-inch Retina display, 2048 x 1536 pixels at 264 ppi. It works with Apple Pencil (1st generation), sold separately.
03Performance and storage
The A10 Fusion chip with M10 coprocessor handles browsing, streaming, email, video calls and school apps. Storage options are 32GB or 128GB. Choose the larger size if you keep downloads, photos or offline video on the iPad.
04Cameras
Apple lists an 8MP rear camera and a 1.2MP FaceTime HD front camera. They are suited to video calls, scanning documents and casual photos.
05Battery and charging
Apple rates this iPad at up to 10 hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi or watching video when new. Our refurbished units have at least 85% battery health at dispatch on every grade, so expect slightly less than new. It charges through the Lightning port. It keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack.
06Software updates
The iPad 6th generation's last major software version is iPadOS 17. Apple's iPadOS 18 and later do not support it, so it will not get new iPadOS features. Some App Store apps already require a newer version, so check that the apps you need still support iPadOS 17 before you buy. Older iPadOS versions sometimes get security fixes after major updates stop, but do not rely on them. Source: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/104986.

Compare
How it compares
Compared with the iPad 5th generation, it adds the faster A10 Fusion chip and Apple Pencil (1st generation) support. Compared with the iPad 7th generation, it has a smaller 9.7-inch screen and no Smart Connector for a keyboard. See the refurbished iPad 10th generation or browse all refurbished iPads.
Our view
Is a refurbished iPad 6th generation worth buying in 2026?
Yes for light use on a tight budget, as long as you accept its software limit. It suits students taking handwritten notes with Apple Pencil (1st generation), children, reading, streaming and video calls. The trade-offs are honest ones: the A10 Fusion chip is an older chip, the cameras are basic, and software support has ended at iPadOS 17.
Who it's for
Choose this refurbished iPad 6th generation for students taking handwritten notes with Apple Pencil (1st generation), children, reading, streaming and video calls. If you need the longest software support, look at a newer model.
